Why Do We Get Hiccups?

Some of the researchers have found that hiccups are due to contractions of the diaphragm in the human body. When baby hiccups, some electrical signals are generated which are transmitted to the brain; this is to teach the babies to regulate their breathing.

Some babies who are born earlier than three weeks than the expected date are more prone to the hiccups. Moreover, these babies spend nearly fifteen minutes a day hiccupping. Moreover, it is also found that babies hiccup after nine weeks inside the womb before even they are born.

Experimenting With The Baby Hiccups- Brain Growth

It was experimented, what the hiccups do to the baby. An electrode was attached to the torso of the baby and the other to the brain. It was observed that when the babies hiccupped, an electrical signal was transmitted from the body of the babies to their brain.

Firstly, certain functions of the brain got activated after it received these signals. Breathing is one of the most important things which are managed in the baby’s bodies due to the hiccupping.

These are three brainwaves which are recorded due to the baby hiccups. This helps in the overall development of the brain in babies. Also, the breathing system becomes regular and normal after the brain receives these signals from the body of the babies.
